Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Easy English app ("the app", "we") collects and uses data. The app is designed to respect your privacy: you do not need to create an account and we do not collect personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number).

1. Data we collect

Anonymous device ID: a random identifier (Firebase Anonymous ID) used to save your learning progress. It does not allow us to identify you personally.
Progress & learning choices: your goal, daily target, self-assessed level, completed lessons, streak, XP and gems — linked to the anonymous device ID.
Microphone audio: when you use the speaking / pronunciation feature, the app records your voice to score pronunciation. See section 2 for details.
Usage data (analytics): in-app events (opening screens, completing lessons, etc.) collected in an aggregated, anonymous form to improve the product.
Crash logs & diagnostics: collected via Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes and improve stability. May include a device identifier and technical device state.
Basic technical info: app version, device type / operating system, used for operation and anonymous statistics.

2. Microphone permission (audio recording)

The app requests microphone access only for the speaking practice and pronunciation scoring feature. Specifically:

The microphone is activated only when you actively start a speaking exercise.
Speech recognition is performed using the Android SpeechRecognizer provided by Google. The app prefers on-device (offline) recognition when available.
If an offline recognition package is not available on your device, the audio may be sent to Google's speech-recognition service to be processed, subject to Google's privacy policy.
The app does not record in the background, does not listen secretly, and does not store or share your recordings for advertising purposes.
You can deny or revoke the microphone permission at any time in your device settings (the speaking feature will then be unavailable).

3. How we use data

Save and sync your learning progress.
Personalize your path and review suggestions.
Score pronunciation in the speaking feature (microphone audio).
Improve app quality through aggregated, anonymous statistics.

We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Third-party services

The app uses Google services:

Firebase Authentication — anonymous sign-in.
Firebase Analytics — collects usage events in an aggregated, anonymous form to analyze and improve the product.
Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash logs and diagnostics to improve stability.
Google speech recognition (Android SpeechRecognizer) — when offline recognition is unavailable, audio may be processed by Google (see section 2).

These services process data under Google's own policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Storage & security

Progress data is stored on our servers, linked to the anonymous device ID, and protected by reasonable technical measures (encrypted HTTPS connections).

6. Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect identifying information from children.

7. Data deletion

Because the data is anonymous per device, you can erase your progress by uninstalling the app, or contact us at the email below to request deletion of the data linked to your device.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
